The season is officially under way for Horfield Korfball Club, the first training session took place last night (Monday 9th August) with more than enough people to play a full game. Despite some attempts by the M5 traffic to throw off our plans.
There was lots of shooting practice, game practice and we also introduced Korfball to some brand new players. One of the focuses this season is to get everyone up to speed with all the Korfball terminologies, last night we begun with the different structures; 4-0, 3-1, 2-2 where the 2nd digit always refers to what's going on under the post.
This Monday training slot will be used throughout the season and we will add in a Wednesday slot from September onwards at the same time. All in preparation for the league game starting in October.
We had an excellent season in 2016/17 with Horfield 3 coming 3rd in the SWKA 2 league and Horfield 2 being promoted from SWKA 2 up to SWKA 1. Horfield 1 had a strong finish to the season securing their position in SWKA 1. During the season there were also many individual performances to be celebrated, and the prizes were awarded at the end of season awards.

A big learning curve last season for all and this season its going to be another tough season with a few players moving on, but we have had a number of great new players through the door.
Strong finishes all round this year is what's required and all three teams looking to place their marker in the ground as a team to reckoned with!!
Plenty of new players in and looking to get game time, developing those that came along season and the "old timers" pushing it as hard as possible before the bus passes kick in :) only kidding, I can get away with that being one of the "old timers".
